Penn Quarter Spots Zola and Potenza to Close This Summer

Bad news for the droves of Penn Quarter denizens who had formerly enjoyed a $5 martini in Zola’s bar: the Washington Business Journal reported today that Zola and sister restaurant Potenza, both owned by Stir Food Group, will be closing this summer.  Zola will shut its doors next weekend; Potenza, which is only three years old, will stick it out until August 18.

But with the bad news comes good news—Washington City Paper says that it’s Jeffrey Buben (Vidalia, Bistro Bis) that will move in to the soon-to-be-vacated Potenza location this fall.  If the new happy hour is anything like the one Buben’s established at Vidalia, the newcomer’s craft cocktails and savory nibbles are sure to fill that $5 martini void.
