Let the ice-cold lava flow on

We recently came across a great how-to for making lava flows, a frozen drink that is part piña colada, part strawberry daiquiri, living together happily in the same glass.

It isn’t a D.C. drink, necessarily, but we also know that sometimes you don’t want to battle traffic all the way to Ocean City, Md. If that’s the case, this drink is like your own personal vacation in a glass, no traffic involved.

The blog post by Jennifer Yu is a mishmash of several things (you have to scroll past a couple of rainbow pictures to get to the drink part), but the drink instructions also come with handy photos to reference.

The blogger also describes how to make it just slushy enough to drink easily through a straw, so you won’t need a spoon to fish out the bits that block the straw bottom. We think that part is genius.
